Read moreUsing these last few months of the year to transform the next
The outcomes you're experiencing right now relate to seeds you planted in previous days, weeks, years. The thoughts you had, decisions and actions you took, led to this moment - all those micro actions compounded to create an overall outcome.
So naturally, it follows that your life from tomorrow onwards, is a result of what you start or do today.
We're almost 3 weeks into Quarter 4 of the year, with Christmas just over 8 weeks away - this part of the year is notoriously fast paced. So this week, I thought it would help us out to pause and consider what seeds we're going to plant in these last few months of 2020 - because they're going to have a significant impact on our 2021.
There’s two parts to this. Firstly, intention setting: what do you want to have created or achieved by the end of 2020? There's still lots to play for, and plenty of time to make positive change possible. Also consider - what outcomes do you want to create in 2021? You don't need to have all the details yet, even an intention like 'I'd like to start a new role in 2021' is helpful.
Once you've got a couple of intentions written down, move on to this second part: knowing what you want to create. Consider what small steps you can take in the next 8 weeks that will build momentum towards those intentions you’ve written down.
For example, if you want a new job in 2021, in the next few weeks you could start by brainstorming ideas about what that role could be. Or you could arrange Zoom calls with people who know about that sector/ job type, and even start building LinkedIn connections in that area. It's much easier to execute on a career move with a decent run up.
The key with this second part is to pick small, easy steps that get you moving. And schedule them in your diary! Because time is going to fly now. You'll be grateful you took time this week to reflect and plan. Drop me an email at kat@katthecoach.co.uk if this is something you could use extra support with.
P.S. Life today is a result of your past actions. So with 8 weeks to go until Christmas, what can you start now that will create positive momentum into 2021?

Read moreWant change? Repeat repeat repeat
You'll notice that there are things you are doing to prevent you from reaching your goals. This is the first light bulb moment - realising that you create your outcomes. The second light bulb moment is where people then uncover specifically what it is they want to change, in order to achieve the outcome they want - and to be clear about it.

Time goes by, and then...the niggling voice comes back. It says "what's the next thing? You could be doing more". And let's be honest, the voice is tiring. I can't say I greet it fondly when it returns to my life. Pushing me again. But it's definitely better than sleepwalking through life in old patterns.
Read moreAre you making this mistake with your goals?
Whilst setting goals fires off neural pathways that help us to focus and think analytically (helpful), it also shuts down the part of the brain responsible for learning. Our goals can end up being too narrow/ not what we truly want, because we didn't take time to explore first. So it follows that we need to get our juicy creative thinking done BEFORE we want to channel this into a goal or intention.
